An inclusive utensil

art Now this is a novel concept -- a utensil that's a set of chopsticks, a fork and a knife all in one.

It's called a Forkchop, and it is a lifeline for the novice chopstick user, who can easily switch from chopstick to knife and fork simply by turning the sticks around.

The Forkchop was invented by Donald BonAsia, who believes it is a key to cultural harmony. "If I go to someone's house and the table is set with Forkchops, it means they're prepared for anyone to come," BonAsia says.

Forkchops and are made of plastic and come in a variety of eye-catching hues. They sell for $4.75 at The Executive Chef in Ward Warehouse.

Locals and tourists alike love isle-style pasta

This dried pasta has been around for a few years, but if you haven't walked into The Executive Chef or an ABC Store, you probably have never seen it.

The flavored dried linguine from Sun Noodle Factory was created for the tourist market, but has become a local favorite. Flavors include macadamia nut, taro, kiwi, mango and nori. Familiar spinach and tomato linguine are also available.

The pasta comes in several colors and is very subtle in flavor. Light sauces are suggested to avoid overwhelming the pasta. The fruit flavors are used in desserts in a few local restaurants, paired with sweet cream sauces.

The pasta sells for about $1.85 for 8 ounces. Gift sets of three are available at around $6.
