In a ceremony at the governor's office yesterday, Dr. Kathleen Berg received her promotion as the Hawaii Air National Guard's first female one-star general. She was congratulated by a full house of family and friends after the short ceremony.

Girl Scouts packed and shipped 3,000 boxes of cookies to the Hawaii Army National Guard's 29th Brigade in Afghanistan, Kuwait and Iraq Sunday morning at their headquarters in Nuuanu.
