Cops climb up for a good cause

Men and women in uniform will post themselves above Safeway stores to raise money for Special Olympics Hawaii. The annual "Cop on Top" event runs Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 18 Safeways statewide.

Police officers, sheriffs, military and security force officers have volunteered to camp out for three days on scaffolding above the markets.

Special Olympics Hawaii hopes to raise $200,000 through donations collected at the sites. Call 943-8808, ext. 24, or visit the Web site www.specialolympicshawaii.org.
