San Diego, Calif.-based promoters Deviate Entertainment team up with Platinum Public this weekend for a special edition of "Be Social Fridays."

The one-time-only "Club Deviate" will feature guest sets by members of the Armory, a San Deezy DJ collective that includes DJs Cros 1, Mr. Groove, Rells, Felt 1 and Pac Man. DJ Rage will also be on hand.

Saturday

Kawao CD Release Party, 8 p.m. at Don Ho's Island Grill. Cover: $15. Call 216-7778.

Kawao might have released their latest album, "One of Those Days," more than four months ago, but that isn't stopping the band from celebrating.

They'll headline a full lineup of island music on Saturday, performing alongside Koa'uka, Inoa'ole, B.E.T., One Drop and Katch Ah Vibe.

The party is also one of the first to be co-promoted by Kellee Duarte, who is better known for her work with Mass Appeal Entertainment.

Sunday

Alpha Blondy, 7 p.m. at Pipeline Cafe. Tickets: $28. Call 589-1999.

After a 14-year absence, reggae superstar Alpha Blondy returns to headline the "Summer Sunsplash Pre-Party" at Kapono's.

Best known locally for his anthem "Cocody Rock," Alpha Blondy will follow an opening set by Ooklah the Moc. Special $30 tickets are available, which also gets you into the actual "Summer Sunsplash" next weekend in addition to Sunday's show.
