Reel Big Fish,
Goldfinger
are returning

Tickets go on sale Saturday for the "triumphant return" of Reel Big Fish and Goldfinger to Honolulu.

It's been almost three years since the bands performed here just weeks apart at the now-defunct World Cafe. They both have new albums out in stores now; Reel Big Fish released "We're Not Happy 'Til You're Not Happy" back in April, while Goldfinger put out "Disconnection Notice" in February before following up two months later with a "Greatest Hits" compilation.

Tickets are priced at $25 and $40 for the Oct. 10 concert at Pipeline Cafe, and will be available Saturday at all Ticketmaster outlets. Call (877) 750-4400 to purchase yours by phone ...

AFTER A successful debut in May, promoters Local Underground Vibe (LUV, get it?) present the second edition of "Future Primitive" this weekend. But really, how "underground" is a party if it's being promoted on MySpace?

In the spirit of keeping details on the down low, I won't tell you exactly where the location of this two-night rave is. But flyers have said it will take place on "camp grounds," and a visit to the LUV Web site reveals the site is in Leeward Oahu "at an altitude of 1,500 feet."

I don't know about you, but as someone born and raised on Oahu, that info narrows things down quite a bit.

In any event, tomorrow night will feature DJs Padawan, Fierce, Philthy Phil and Gabriel. Following a series of workshops and an acoustic performance by Eli during the day on Saturday, DJs Gabriel, Danny Yun and Archangel will keep the music going until sunrise.

Tickets for "Future Primitive" are $25 each, plus an additional camping fee payable to the venue. Call 741-2161 for more details ...

IF ROUGHING it outdoors isn't your idea of a good time, skank over to Club Bliss tomorrow for the first Hawaii performance by Black Uhuru's Junior Reid.

The Jamaica-born artist arrives with sons Andrew and Wada Blood in tow, and a new album ("Lost Vinyl") to his credit. He arrives in Hawaii after touring in South America and Asia, and will continue with a U.S. mainland tour later this year.

The Reggae Angels and Mama T with the Jah Unity Band round out the list of acts playing at the 18-and-over party. Check out www. sickdog.com for more info ...

AND ON Saturday, the Butigroove crew will open up its Nimitz warehouse to present "Glow," a CD release party for DJs Morgan and Cloud Skipper.

Doors open at 10 p.m. for this one, and local boy G-Spot will be there to help get things warmed up on the house and trance tip. Call 349-5622 for directions and details about the cover charge ...
