Event to offer training
on resolving civil
rights disputes
The Hawaii Civil Rights Commission will hold a public training event called "ADR: A Quicker Resolution of Civil Rights Disputes" in Room 320 of the Hawai'i Convention Center on Sept. 13 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
The training will focus on "Alternative Dispute Resolution" as another way of resolving civil rights disputes. In fiscal year 2004, more than 625 new complaints were made to the commission. Mediators from the commission's provider, Mediation Center of the Pacific, will also present a demonstration mediation of an employment discrimination case.
