Chang finished his Warriors career with NCAA records for attempts (2,436), completions (1,388), yards passing (17,072) and interceptions (80).
He is considered undersized by NFL standards for the position at 6-foot-1, and was passed over in the draft after so-so performances at two all-star games and the NFL Combine.
Chang came in as the team's fourth quarterback, a slot that usually translates into the practice squad. Kurt Warner, Josh McCown and John Navarre are the team's top three quarterbacks, all but McCown brought in by second-year coach Dennis Green.
It is not likely Chang will hook on with another NFL team this fall since he did not even make it to the Cardinals' first preseason game. Other possibilities for the Saint Louis School graduate include the CFL or arena football.
Chang was not available for comment yesterday. His agent, Steve Dubin, did not return numerous phone calls seeking comment.
Two other former Warriors from last year's team are still in NFL camps:
Jacksonville hosts Miami in its first preseason game Saturday.
» Cornerback Abraham Elimimian, a free-agent signee, is competing with Marcus Curry, Jonathan Cox and Gabe Franklin for a backup spot in the San Diego Chargers secondary.
The Chargers play their first preseason game at Green Bay tomorrow. Packers tackle Adrian Klemm is also a former UH player.
