Isles scouted
for wedding

Production execs for Universal Pictures' comedy "You, Me and Dupree" (starring Kate Hudson, Owen Wilson and Matt Dillon) scouted Hawaii twice in recent weeks for a location for the picture's opening wedding scene. The film's production designer scouted first, then last week, directors Joe and Anthony Russo (Fox television's "Arrested Development"). Look for a week of filming here in October. The production hired local location scouts on each island, including Oahu's Stephanie Spangler ...

Forget About It: Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's long-stalled "Kamehameha" project remains well off the radar. The action star has already signed to star in Touchstone Pictures' "Blowback" with Ryan Reynolds about two San Francisco cops. He next appears in Universal's action thriller "Doom" (based on the popular video game) and is shooting "Gridiron Gang" for Sony ...

Last weekend, ABC/ Touchstone did "Lost" cast press photos and taped interviews for season two that included new member Michelle Rodriquez at the Turtle Bay Resort. Taping was by Honolulu's Pacific Focus and produced by Colette Fox.

Episode titles for the drama's first three episodes this upcoming season are "Man of Science, Man of Faith" (written by Damon Lindelof), "Adrift" (Steven Maeda and Leonard Dick) and "Orientation" (Javier Grillo-Marxuach and Craig Wright) ...

Shark attack victim and Kauai surfer Bethany Hamilton is featured in an upcoming Subway kids' challenge ad campaign filmed over two days on Kauai that used 15 Garden Isle teenagers as extras and 10 local crew. Water photography was by Yuri Farrant, who shot at Salt Pond in Hanapepe and Poipu with the production company, Oahu's Bill Maheras' Sight and Sound Studios. This is Maheras' second production for the fast-food chain ...

Almost set to announce: The N cable network has joined MarVista Entertainment and Brookwell McNamara Entertainment for a hoped-for 22 half-hour episode deal of "Boarding School" to be filmed on Oahu in September over a 14-week period. A source says the deal is "95 percent" certain.

The story: Five girls (looks like an all-mainland cast) attend college but want to learn to ride waves like pro surfers and compete in a male-dominated sport. The instructor character is supposed to be "a local world-class surfer" patterned after Brian Keaulana, who's been approached to be the show's consultant ...

Sandra Ichihara is the Hawaii Film Office's new film industry development specialist/studio coordinator, previously held by now-retired Sharon Clark. Ichihara also processes film permits, tracks statistics, administers contracts and manages the office's budget ...
