WARNER BROS.
Jessica Simpson, left, Johnny Knoxville and Seann William Scott star in "The Dukes of Hazzard."

Opening Friday:

"The Dukes of Hazzard": It's the movie remake of the 1980s road-rubes TV series, but with a "Smokey and the Bandit" flavor. Johnny Knoxville and Seann William Scott play good-ol'-boy cousins Luke and Bo, Jessica Simpson is curvaceous cousin Daisy, and Willie Nelson portrays moonshine-running Uncle Jesse. The family tries to save the family farm from being destroyed by the county's corrupt commissioner, Boss Hogg (Burt Reynolds). And expect the boys' 1969 orange Dodge Charger, the General Lee, to have a prominent role as well. (PG-13)

Noni talk moves

Wednesday's 7 p.m. UH Outreach College Sakamaki lecture "Noni -- Does it Help Cancer Patients?" will be moved from the Krauss Hall Yukiyoshi Room to the Hawaii Institute of Geophysics Room 110. HIG will accommodate a larger audience for Dr. Brian Issell's presentation about the tropical fruit which is considered by many to be a wonder drug.

In 2001, Issell received a grant from the National Institutes of Health to measure the effectiveness of freeze-dried noni in alleviating the effects of cancer, after learning that a number of his patients claimed they felt better after taking it.

Issell -- a professor of medicine at the University of Hawai'i, director of the Clinical Trials Unit at the Cancer Research Center of Hawai'i, and a practicing internist and medical oncologist -- will share some of his findings to date.

The talk is free. Call 956-8246.

The event takes place 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. outside the hospital, 226 N. Kuakini St. Cost is $10 for cars; $15 for trucks, vans and SUVs.
