Teams vying in the Plywood Cup -- a benefit for the United Cerebral Palsy Group -- designed, built and raced their vessels across the finish line yesterday afternoon. During the race at Magic Island, Paige Heckathorn and Jenn Proctor, aboard Island Mechanical Corp.'s vessel, front, floated toward the second marker as Stacy Stout and Kaz Stewart, aboard Hawaii Yacht Club's vessel, trailed not too far behind.

Customers checking out the state's first Best Buy store created a logjam yesterday both in and outside the Iwilei outlet. The opening of the consumer electronics store at 478 Alakawa St. included performances by Aunty Genoa Keawe and hula dancers, as well as a blessing by Kahu David Kaupu.
