The Bloomberg / Star-Bulletin Index is a price-weighted index designed to measure the performance of Hawaii-based companies. The index was developed with a base value of 100 as of December 31, 1999. A chart of the index which shows the weekly performance of its members is published weekly in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin.
Barnwell tops stocks
Barnwell Industries Inc., this year's top-performing local stock that trades over $1, jumped 5.3 percent this week to lead the Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin index. The oil and natural gas company, which has real estate holdings on the Big Island, extended its gain for 2005 to 82.9 percent after closing yesterday at $67.80.
It was a down week for most of the rest of the stocks in the index.
Bank of Hawaii Corp. brought up the rear, falling 3.7 percent to $51.35. Central Pacific Financial Corp. fell 2.85 percent to close at $36.50.
