OUR PICKS THIS WEEKEND

Nadine sez...

Always wanted to go to Tokyo, but you're short on yen? Let Benihana of Tokyo pay your way. The company is offering a chance for one lucky diner to win a trip for two on its "GoTokyo" tour.

"We're taking our guests to where it all began," said Kevin Aoki, Benihana's vice president of marketing, "Tokyo, where my grandfather Yunosuke Aoki opened a small coffee shop in 1948, which later inspired my father, Rocky, to open Benihana in 1964."

To enter, write 150 words or less about your most amazing experience at Benihana, home of knife-wielding teppan chefs that slice, dice and toss food through the air and onto your plate. Include your name, age, phone number and home address and send to "My Best Benihana Experience," P.O. Box 191089-281, Dallas, TX 75219; or go online at www.gotokyo.jp. Entrants must be at least 21, and entries must be received by Monday. So chop, chop!

If you don't want to chance it, sign up for the Sept. 17-22 tour by calling 877-BENIHANA. The tour cost is $1,249 per person from Hawaii.

STAR-BULLETIN / 2002

Nancy sez ...

Since my son is starting school soon, I want to make the most of his last few days of summer. We'll probably see the movie "Sky High" (he's been waiting for it to come out) and attend the "Picnic in the Park" at Kakaako Waterfront Park as part of National Kids Day (see Page 10). Fresh air and sun is always good before he has to spend his days in the classroom.

Michelle sez ...

Check out the ukulele festival at Kapiolani Park Sunday. See Page 8. Have a picnic while enjoying the music by many of Roy Sakuma's talented students. My twin cousins are performing so I'll probably be there cheering them on. Then, since my family has always been a fan of Frank DeLima and since he has a role in Hawaii Opera Theatre's "The Pirates of Penzance," my parents and I will attend the closing night show. Where else can you watch a good opera and laugh at DeLima at the same time?
