Melissa Ching, left, Jonathan Loomis and Shane Akagi performed Saturday with other members of the Young Okinawans of Hawaii at Kaneohe Day on the Bay at Kokokahi YWCA. The event was created to inspire and encourage healthy families and friendships in Kaneohe. Family activities, live entertainment, a craft fair, pony rides, food vendors and sailing were featured.

Margie Banach and Col. Steve Banach of the U.S. Army greeted Yukiko Matsuda, 10, yesterday morning after she and four other orphans from the Holy Family Home orphanage in Osaka, Japan, arrived at Honolulu Airport. The children are here for two weeks under the care of host families from the 27th Infantry Regiment Wolfhounds. The annual exchange between Japan and the U.S. Army has continued for 49 years.
