The Bloomberg / Star-Bulletin Index is a price-weighted index designed to measure the performance of Hawaii-based companies. The index was developed with a base value of 100 as of December 31, 1999. A chart of the index which shows the weekly performance of its members is published weekly in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin.
A&B rises 12.6%
Alexander & Baldwin Inc. soared 12.6 percent this week ahead of next Thursday's earnings report to easily outpace nine other stocks in the Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin index. The parent of Matson Navigation Co. closed yesterday at an all-time high of $54.82.
Barnwell Industries Inc., which has risen 73.7 percent this year, rose 4.8 percent to $64.38 after being added to the Russell microcap index.
Bank of Hawaii Corp. gained 0.2 percent to $53.31 -- just off its all-time high of $54.14 set the previous week -- ahead of Monday's earnings report.
