Sunset's new lookThe event runs from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, with the films screening at 7 p.m. both nights. To mark the occasion, artist Mark Swanson has created beach-themed Polynesian fantasy art that will grace T-shirts ($10), small polyester-poplin beach totes ($20), throw pillows ($20) and mouse pads ($10) to be sold at the event, with a percentage of proceeds going to the North Shore Chamber of Commerce to defray costs of staging the event. Swanson designed concert posters and album covers for venues and bands in the Los Angeles and San Francisco Bay area before moving into animation and digital filmmaking. His credits include work on Steven Spielberg's "The Land Before Time" and MGM's "All Dogs Go to Heaven." He moved to the North Shore a year ago, where his other artwork and merchandise can be found at Strong Current Hawaii, 66-208 Kamehameha Highway, 637-3410.
Trendy TJessica Jung and Monica Brittle of Murphy's Bar & Grill were stuck with wearing unflattering size-large event T-shirts. So they improvised by cutting the sleeves halfway up the arm seam, splitting open the sleeve tube and tying them at the back for a baby-doll effect, tight across the bust, draping loosely at the empire. Quite a trendy look for a T.
