The Nuuanu Brews, Blues and BBQ street festival was held yesterday evening along Nuuanu Avenue. The event featured the Great Honolulu Rib Cook-off, blues music, jugglers and clowns. Mardene Baker, the "Performer Extraordinaire!" juggled fire. She said she's been performing for 21 years, but the $100 bill that wound up in her collection hat was her first in Honolulu, she said.

Troy Apostol, facing camera, and Marissa Robello, from the Hawaii Shakespeare Festival, rattled their sabers yesterday as they performed an excerpt from Romeo and Juliet. Pirate Day, held at Hawaii Maritime Museum, was a celebration of the Hawaii Opera Theater's production of The Pirates of Penzance, which opens July 22 at the Blaisdell Concert Hall.
