Vintage paintings on view

At 84, Paul Tokunaga has been an art collector for 50 years, but his collection of works by friends and fellow artists has never been shown to the public until now.

An exhibition of 29 pieces including works by himself, Isami Doi, Jean Charlot, John Young and others will be on view at Neal's Art for Sale at Kilohana Square, 1016 Kapahulu Ave., beginning with a reception from 5 to 8:30 p.m. today. The exhibition continues from noon to 5 p.m. Mondays to Thursdays, noon to 8:30 p.m. Fridays and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 5 to 8:30 p.m. Saturdays through July 30.

Admission is free. Some of the pieces will be available for sale. Call 737-1368.

mesh by Shari Saiki opens Monday

mesh, a furniture and accessories store owned by award winning interior designer Shari Saiki and business partner and husband Bryan Kitashima, opens its doors Monday at Dole Cannery Square.

The Saiki team describes it as a "mirror of this melting pot of cultural influences found in Hawaii and can be categorized as Contemporary Pacifica, Modern Elegance, Tropical Immersion..."

Located across Costco and Home Depot in Iwilei, there's plenty of parking. Store hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. Call 536-mesh (6374) for more information.

More floor space for Bali Aga

Bali Aga has added a second floor to its furniture store/warehouse on 307A Kamani St. to accommodate its growing inventory of eclectic furniture from Indonesia.

"It's a work in progress, but the second floor will be used mainly for bedroom and dining room furniture," said store owner Luis Gamarra.

Store hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays to Saturdays, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sundays. Call 593-9030 for more information.
