Junior PGA event at Turtle Bay starts tomorrow

The Callaway Golf PGA Junior Series makes a stop at Turtle Bay Resort tomorrow through Friday.

The first round of the 54-hole event tomorrow is on the Arnold Palmer course, and the second round is on the Fazio course.

Golfers ages 13-17 from Hawaii, Texas, Michigan, California, Colorado, Guam and Australia are participating in the tournament.

The event is the seventh in a national series.

4 Hawaii U-14 girls in running for ODP

Four Hawaii U-14 girls made the cut so far in their attempt to land a spot on the regional U.S. Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program team.

Kirsten Adams, Kaitlen Holt, Meleana Shim and Lauren Wong, all from the Ho'okalakupua Soccer Club, were among 36 girls who made it through the Western Regional trials last week in Moscow, Idaho.

They're competing for 25 slots on the regional team, which competes in August for spots on the national team.

Youth football league meeting tonight

The new Big Boys Youth Tackle Football League is holding an informational meeting at 7 tonight at Pililaau Community Park in Waianae.

The league is open to players ages 12-14 who weigh between 155 and 255 pounds. Tonight's meeting is open to interested parents, players and coaches from Pearl City, Waipahu, Ewa Beach, Makakilo, Kapolei, Nanakuli, Maili, Waianae and Makaha.
