» Top hitters last week were outfielder Shane Victorino (St. Anthony), who was 12-for-29 (.414) with two doubles and a triple, and catcher Dane Sardinha (Kamehameha, Pepperdine), who was 8-for-24 (.333) with a double and two home runs.
» Shortstop Brian Finegan (Hawaii) is 7-for-8 in stolen-base attempts.
» Kea Kometani (Punahou, Pepperdine) did not spend much time with the Spokane Indians in the short-season Class A Northwest League. After making his second start in the Indians' home opener last Sunday, the right-hander was on a plane the next morning to Clinton, Iowa, after being promoted to the Lumberkings in the full-season Class A Midwest League by the Texas Rangers.
» Steve Bryant (Hawaii) earned his first pro win in his first appearance for the Vancouver Canadians. The right-hander pitched perfect seventh and eighth innings, fanning four of the six batters he faced. The Canadians rallied for two runs in the bottom of the eighth for a 2-1 win.
» Infielder Keoni DeRenne (Iolani, Arizona), who began the season with the Tucson Sidewinders, was transferred back to the AAA team last week after getting caught in a roster numbers game and playing for the Lancaster Jethawks in the California League.
» Shane Komine (Kalani, Nebraska) has reported to the Athletics in the Arizona League, a rookie circuit, where he will work into pitching shape after having Tommy John surgery last summer.
» Ricky Bauer (Hawaii) is on the roster of the Giants' team in the Arizona League. The right-hander experienced some tendinitis in his right shoulder, has been rehabbing, and threw a bullpen session Thursday. He expects to be ready to pitch in a game in a week or two.
