Suspect arrested in home burglary

Police arrested a 20-year-old man suspected of burglarizing an Aliamanu home Thursday afternoon.

The 19-year-old resident found the suspect, who has no local address, rummaging through his bedroom, police said.

The suspect allegedly had taken an undisclosed amount of cash, but the money was returned to the resident, police said.

Police arrested the suspect sometime after 2:15 p.m. Thursday on suspicion of first-degree burglary.

He was released pending investigation.

Driver critically hurt after vehicle rolls over

A 25-year-old woman was taken to the Queen's Medical Center yesterday morning in critical condition after the black 2002 Dodge Durango she was driving rolled over on Farrington Highway, west of Satellite Tracking Road.

The woman was driving eastbound on Farrington at 6:15 a.m. when she apparently lost control of the vehicle, said Honolulu Police officer Michael Brady.

Two passengers in the Durango, a 17-year-old boy and a 19-year-old man, were treated at Queen's for minor injuries, he said.

Speed apparently was a factor in the collision, police said.

Nanakuli brush fire closes road for 1 hour

A brush fire in Nanakuli led to the closure of Princess Kahanu Avenue for over an hour last night.

Police had closed the avenue from Farrington Highway to Laiku Street at 7:17 p.m. because of the fire.

Honolulu firefighters arrived at 87-125 Princess Kahanu Ave. at 7:30 p.m. and had the fire under control by 8 p.m., a fire dispatcher said. No structures were damaged, he said.

Boy, 13, accused of robbing another teen

A 13-year-old boy allegedly robbed another 13-year-old boy at a Pearl City school Thursday morning, police said.

Police said the suspect was wielding a dangerous instrument, used force on the victim, and took the victim's watch and iPod.

Police found the suspect nearby and arrested him on suspicion of first-degree robbery.
