Sigur Rós show set at Hawaii Theatre

Tickets go on sale Tuesday for Sigur Rós, the Icelandic quartet performing at Hawaii Theatre at 8 p.m. Aug. 9.

Best known for their appearance on the soundtrack for the Tom Cruise movie "Vanilla Sky," Sigur Rós has won widespread acclaim in the United States. The group's music has been called "expansive," "regenerative" and "ethereal" by celebrity fans as diverse as Madonna, David Bowie and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Since 2001, Sigur Rós have composed and recorded several projects, from collaborative modern dance pieces with Radiohead to interpretive works for the Royal Danish Ballet to a long-awaited fourth album, due later this year.

Tickets, at $27.50, will be available from 9 a.m. at the Hawaii Theatre box office. Tickets can also be ordered by phone at 528-0506 or purchased online at hawaiitheatre.com. A nominal service charge applies to all sales.

Sigur Rós is presented by Tom Moffatt in association with Bill Silva.
