Cutter Chevrolet moving
to 711 Ala Moana
CUTTER Chevrolet is moving today from 1391 Kapiolani Blvd. to the 711 Ala Moana car lot recently vacated by Honolulu Ford.
The move will allow the Cutter dealership to more than triple in size -- from 50,000 square feet to more than four acres -- quadruple its showroom space and expand its service department from 14 stalls to 42, with lifts.
Cutter had been at the Kapiolani location since 1990.
Honolulu Ford moved from Ala Moana to Kalihi in a deal negotiated with landowner Kamehameha Schools as part of the trust's plan to develop a high-tech center on land it owns in Kakaako. New City Nissan also recently announced a move from Ala Moana to a larger site in Kalihi.
Dealers vacating Ala Moana cited lease costs as well as landowners' development plans.
Nick Cutter, president of Cutter Family Auto Centers, called 711 Ala Moana "larger and better located" than the Kapiolani site.
Current employees will move to the new location, for which Cutter anticipates hiring "at least 10 sales people, more technicians and support staff." The expanded service department will service any General Motors vehicle, Cutter said.
