Loggins & Messina tickets on sale tomorrowAfter nearly 30 years, Kenny Loggins and Jim Messina return to Hawaii to perform at 8 p.m. Oct. 7 at the Blaisdell Arena.Tickets at $65 and $45 for the Loggins and Messina reunion tour "Sittin' in Again" go on sale at 9 a.m. tomorrow at the Blaisdell box office and Ticketmaster outlets including Times Supermarkets. Libraries host summer 'Bamboo Ridge Tales'"Bamboo Ridge Tales," a funny and moving selection of stories from Bamboo Ridge Press, will be part of the Hawaii State Public Library System's free Young Adult Summer Reading Program at eight Oahu public libraries from Tuesday through July 23.Actors Eric Mita and Janice Terukina will present "Honeymoon Hotel" and "Fourth Grade Ukus" in the 45-minute program, suitable for ages 11 and up. Chamber music gets boost with recent grantA $200,000 grant from the Bretzlaff Foundation to the Honolulu Symphony will create the Hazel Van Allen Fund to promote live chamber music in Hawaii's schools.Promoting music and arts in education is a cornerstone of the Honolulu Symphony's mission. The $200,000 will be dispersed over four years. The goals of the Honolulu Symphony's In School Ensemble Program are to educate children in Hawaii about the value of music and orchestral performance and to introduce children to classical repertoire. The grant will be used for musician pay, transportation and administrative expenses to stage the in-school concerts.
