A high-flying
fried rice dish

These dishes were prepared by Beverly Gannon, corporate chef for Hawaiian Airlines, on "The Electric Kitchen" Sunday. The program airs at 4:30 p.m. on KITV/ABC.

Chinese Sausage Fried Rice

7 tablespoons peanut oil
1/4 cup thinly sliced Chinese sausage
1/4 cup sliced water chestnuts
2 tablespoons minced carrot
2 tablespoons minced fresh ginger
1/4 cup diced red onion
1/4 cup green peas
3 cups cooked white rice, cooled
1/2 teaspoon salt
Pinch pepper

In a large sauté pan, heat oil over high heat. Add sausage, water chestnuts, carrot, ginger, onion and peas and stir-fry 3 to 5 minutes.

Add rice, salt and pepper and stir-fry 3 more minutes, or until rice is heated through. Serves 6.
