» First baseman Kila Ka'aihue (Iolani) is one of 22 players selected to the California League All-Star team that plays the Carolina League All-Stars in the All-Star Classic at Frederick, Md., Tuesday.
» Reid Santos (Castle, Saddleback) won his third consecutive game Wednesday. The left-hander allowed seven hits and one earned run in six innings. He walked two and fanned eight to even his record at 3-3.
» Shortstop Brandon Chaves (Hilo, Hawaii-Hilo) was transfered by the Pittsburgh Pirates from the Altoona (Pa.) Curve in the Class AA Eastern League to the Lynchburg(Va.) Hillcats in the Class A advanced Carolina League last week.
» Third baseman Pat Scalabrini (Hawaii) was transfered by the Baltimore Orioles from the Fredrick (Md.) Keys in the Class A advanced Carolina League to the Delmarva (Md.) Shorebirds in the Class A South Atlantic League last week.
» Kaulana Kuhaulua (Waianae, Long Beach State) leaves July 1 for the Minnesota Twins spring training facility in Ft. Myers, Fla., where he will continue to rehab his fractured left foot. The middle infielder was just recently cleared to start jogging.
» Micah Furtado (Kapaa, Lewis-Clark State) began losing weight about month before spring training started and was diagnosed with a hyper thyroid. The second baseman is back in Hawaii undergoing therapy, trying to regain the 30 to 35 pounds he lost and hopefully be ready to participate in instructional league this fall.
