Hui Wa'a regatta moved to Ma'ili Beach

Sunday's Hui Wa'a outrigger canoe regatta has been moved to Ma'ili Beach Park from Keehi Lagoon due to continuing problems with the lagoon's water quality.

Officials have not yet secured sites for the regattas on June 26 and July 3 which are scheduled for Keehi Lagoon. An infestation of tiny jellyfish is the suspected cause of the problem which had paddlers from both associations complaining of stings.

The Leeward Coast will be crowded Sunday as the Oahu Hawaiian Canoe Racing Association holds its regatta at Nanakuli Beach. Racing for both regattas begins at 8:30 a.m.
