CRIB NOTES

Blossoms that last a lifetime

DecoMagic Soft Clay and Deco Clay Craft Academy founder Kazuko Miyao, from Japan, will host events at Macy's Ala Moana from June 24-26.

Miyai's daughter, Yukiko Miyai-Mackay -- who has a studio on Kapahulu Avenue -- will show their distinctive bouquets, centerpieces and arrangements, suited to home decor or weddings.

DecoMagic Soft clay is an air-drying modeling clay developed in Japan to create lifelike flowers, ornaments and other craft items. Kazuko developed the crafting clay with the help of a chemist, later opening her academy.

The free exhibition will be open in the third-floor Special Event Room during store hours all three days. Make-and-take sessions throughout the event run $5 per flower, gardenia or rose.

In addition, workshops will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. for favor boxes (June 24) and corsage (June 25), and 2 to 3 p.m. June 26 for figurines. Cost is $15 for the hour-long sessions. Space is limited, so register by calling Deco Clay at 735-7800.
