‘Five-O’ script
gets a rewrite

George Nolfi's "Hawaii Five-0" film script still isn't ready, so the screenwriter is rewriting it with Warner Bros. studio production executives in hopes it'll be pau by late summer. While director Steven Soderbergh and actor George Clooney are doing another movie, they're both still in the running for the "Five-0" project. As for last week's rumor that Ben Affleck would portray Steve McGarrett, studio sources call it "absolute rubbish" ...

The Discovery Channel's children survivor series "Flight 29 Down" will premiere the first of 13 episodes Sept. 10 on NBC. "Down" is a co-production for Discovery Kids by Stan Rogow, D.J. MacHale and Hawaii Film Partners, co-founded by Gina Watumull and Shauna Jackson. A green-light for a second season looks promising, with filming to begin here in October ...

Producer/director Albert Pyun, who produced an independent film on the Big Island in 2002, has entered his latest work in this fall's Louis Vuitton Hawaii International Film Festival. Some of the production of ABC's "Lost" moves into the Hawaii Film Studio next month. Other crew members have been told to report for work on June 30. The production is considering repairing the deteriorating swim tank originally built for "Baywatch Hawaii," with the costs running about $300,000.
