Comedy fame grows
for other Murphy
For more than 20 years,
Charlie Murphy's greatest claim to fame was that he was
Eddie Murphy's older brother. That all changed in 2004, thanks to a guy named
Dave Chappelle.
Last year's second season of the wildly popular "Chapelle's Show" jump-started Murphy's career, largely due to skits he wrote and co-starred in that detailed encounters with Rick James and Prince. PARTY FOR a good cause tomorrow, as Tiki's Grill and Bar hosts "Have a Heart for Tee" at the Waikiki restaurant.
"Tee" is Taylor Grey Burton, a 13-year-old local girl who has already had two heart transplants. Unfortunately, her body is rejecting the latest transplant and she's in need of another one.
"It's been very difficult for Tee ... and we're pleased to support an event to help defray some of the medical costs," said Tiki's managing partner Bill Tobin in a release. People are invited to Tiki's from 5 to 9 p.m. tomorrow, where there will be heavy pupus (and even one free drink per ticket purchased) and live entertainment by Cory Oliveros, Vaihi and Weldon Kekauoha.
Tickets are $40 each, and are available in advance at Coffee Talk on Waialae Avenue. Call 782-5184 for more info ...
