» Benny Agbayani (Saint Louis, Hawaii Pacific) has raised his batting average 23 points in the past two weeks by going 16-for-42. The outfielder had two doubles, two home runs and 11 runs batted in in that stretch.
» Mark Johnson (Hawaii) was called upon by the Detroit Tigers to pitch in the annual Hall of Fame game May 25 in Cooperstown, N.Y. The right-hander started the game against the world champion Boston Red Sox. He pitched five innings, allowed six hits, one unearned run, did not walk a batter and struck out four. Johnson was not involved in the decision as the Tigers won 6-4.
» Kila Ka'aihue (Iolani) has the second-most hits (73) in the California League. He trails Lancaster catcher Miguel Montero by seven, but Montero has 22 more official at-bats. Both players bat from the left side.
» Chad Bailey (Campbell, Seminole State), a left-hander, has been transferred from the Vero Beach Dodgers in the Florida State League to the Columbus (Ga.) Catfish in the South Atlantic League.
» Rodney Choy Foo (Kailua), an infielder in the Cleveland Indians organization who missed all of spring training due to stress fracture in his left foot, has reported to extended spring training in Winter Haven, Fla.
