Sherman victorious in Aloha Shootout

Jeremy Sherman held off Johnny Herrera to win the Aloha Shootout sprint car race at USA Race Park in Arizona on Monday.

The race was part of the Southwest Sprint Car Series, which brings drivers from Hawaii and the southwestern states together for competition.

Dean Freitas (ninth place), Shaun Ternora(15th) and Brandon Ternora (20th) were Hawaii's top finishers.

Honolulu Bulls seek another title

The Honolulu Bulls go after their fourth consecutive Robledo Cup soccer title when they meet HPU White tomorrow at 7 p.m. at Ala Wai Field.

The Bulls smashed Brotherhood 9-1 and HPU White edged Lanikai Tuesday 2-1 to reach the final.

Lanikai Tuesday will have a chance for redemption on Sunday when it plays HPU White In the Men's Island Soccer Organization Division I championship match at 3 p.m. in the Waipio Peninsula Soccer Park Stadium.

Also on Sunday, Real Hawaii plays Faded in the stadium at 1 p.m. for the Division II title, and International takes on Honolulu United for the Masters crown at 4 p.m. on field 9.

Basketball camp at Manoa Valley gym

The Sole Fundamentals Basketball Camp runs from July 25-29 at Manoa Valley District Park Gym.

The camp runs in two sessions -- boys and girls in grades 4-7 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. and boys and girls in grades 8-12 from 6:45 to 8:45 p.m.

The cost is $100, and many Hawaii high school coaches serve as the instructors.

Elimination martial arts, boxing on Maui

A three-month elimination tournament for martial arts, kickboxing and boxing is being held on Maui, starting June 24 at Hapa's in Kihei.

The entry fee for participants is $50 and all entrants must be 21 and over.

Fins, Manju triumph in DJ Johnson regatta

Todd and Cindy Wyrick sailed Fins to victory in the Americap A division and won the DJ Johnson Around Oahu Trophy in the Waikiki Yacht Club's regatta last weekend

Ted Miller, the skipper of Manju, won the multihull series.

Squad Car was the winner of Americap B, and Geoffrey Bourne's Noa sailed to victory in PHRF 1.

Miller Winterbottom's Ikaika took PHRF 2 honors.
