Oh yeah, that world-famous
Grammy-nominated album

GRAMMY? WHAT GRAMMY?: Keali'i Reichel mentioned "that Grammy stuff" during his shows with the Honolulu Symphony last weekend as something that's happened since he last played with the orchestra three years ago, but even without winning the award, his Grammy-nominated album, "Ke'alaokamalie," continues to soar. Not only did it receive seven Hoku Awards last year, but it is No. 10 on the Billboard World Music Chart, even though it was released a year-and-a-half ago ...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY: To Kala'i Miller and Tony Pisculli, who are celebrating today ... also to Milton Banana, the comedian sometimes known as Kento (Saturday), Jennifer Keane (Sunday), Moana Chang (Monday), Danny Couch (Tuesday), and Francis Apoliona and Puakea Nogelmeier (Wednesday) ...

HERE COME THE GRADS! Congratulations to Keali'i "K-boy" Ho, youngest son of Don Ho, on his graduation from Kamehameha. Big sister Hoku Ho is back home for K-boy's big day and will be appearing as a special guest at her dad's show tonight ... Congratulations also to Brittney Anelaikalani Jennings, who will be taking her career up a notch or two now that she's graduating from Castle. She plans to take a few college classes this summer, then take at least a year off to record and tour ...

So many people want to be a "promoter" and many of them don't have a clue about what it takes to create a successful event, smooth out operating glitches, and keep it going. So, congratulations to Flash Hansen and Matty "Matty Boy" Hazelgrove who are celebrating the first anniversary of SKYLiNE at the Hanohano Room on Saturday, and to Sheraton Waikiki general manager Ryan Laskey, and Keith Mallini and Richard Vidinha, who handle the operation of the room. SKYLiNE has become so consistently successful that people who make the mistake of arriving "fashionably late" often find themselves in for long wait downstairs because "the list" closes when the room reaches capacity. The theme this weekend is "White Night," and because Flash and Matty Boy are asking everyone to wear at least 95 percent white I'll wish them well and catch the next one ...
