Catingub’s cast
in Clooney film

Matt Catingub, Honolulu Symphony Pops conductor, will appear in George Clooney's film "Good Night and Good Luck" as a saxophone player in the story's band. Catingub will also conduct the score for the film's soundtrack to be recorded in July. In case you're wondering: Catingub, who knows Clooney through his late aunt and singer Rosemary Clooney, said the star never mentioned a possible starring role in the "Magnum, P.I." or "Hawaii Five-0" films ...

A Japanese drama, "Rikon Bengoshi II" ("Handsome Woman") will feature Jake Shimabukuro's music. Japan's second most popular television drama series, it will air today at 7:20 p.m. on the Nippon Golden Network. Shimabukuro's music also appears in a children's program similar to "Sesame Street,'" only shown in Japan ...

The day after the "Lost" finale aired last Wednesday, ABC's "Good Morning America" broadcast an unaired scene in which Charlie (Dominic Monaghan) talks to Claire (Emilie de Ravin) about the French woman, and Claire reveals that she didn't name her baby because she feared that "the others" were coming back for him.

Creator J.J. Abrams said from Los Angeles that though the drama's first season focused on only 14 of the 48 crash survivors, that'll change in season two. The production already is casting new second-season regulars.

Abrams says not everyone will be coming back to let other characters step up. And expect survivors in season two to do a lot more island exploring.

The L-1011 used in "Lost" -- dismantled by Las Vegas-based Scroggins Aviation and costing $200,000 (not including shipping to Hawaii) -- will be featured in the book "Scrapping Aircraft" by owner Doug Scroggins ...

UPN has dropped former Fox "North Shore" star Shannen Doherty as the star of its new fall sitcom, "Love, Inc." Doherty was flown to New York and paraded before advertisers at the network's upfront presentation. She was supposed to play a savvy matchmaker whose own love life left something to be desired.

The network isn't commenting on their move. Fox sources say that Doherty was a casualty of bad research, adding that "preview audiences were not responding to her"...
