The Bloomberg / Star-Bulletin Index is a price-weighted index designed to measure the performance of Hawaii-based companies. The index was developed with a base value of 100 as of December 31, 1999. A chart of the index which shows the weekly performance of its members is published weekly in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin.
Maui Pine rises
Maui Land & Pineapple Co. jumped 15 percent to a six-week high to lead nine other stocks this week in the Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin index. The company, whose stock closed yesterday at $42.19, said last week it would proceed alone with a wellness community at Kapalua Resort after a joint venture fell apart.
Cyanotech Corp., a producer of nutritional products out of microalgae, had the next best performance with a 3.4 percent gain to 91 cents. The company, however, has the worst showing for the year among local stocks with a decline of 36.8 percent.
