Pac-Five preps for states

The Pac-Five girls and Punahou boys each claimed their second consecutive Interscholastic League of Honolulu judo titles at the league championships yesterday at Kamehameha.

The top four in the girls division and the top five in the boys division in each weight class advanced to the state championships.

The Pac-Five girls are sending six athletes, including three ILH champions in Alicia Huang, Nikki Morin and Tabitha Lum. Also taking first in their class were Punahou's Kara Takasaki and Randolyn Nohara, defending state champions at 128 and 200 respectively. The Punahou boys are sending 17 to states.

In the Oahu Interscholastic Association Championships yesterday at Moanalua, the defending state champion Pearl City boys team had four winners, including 2004 state champion Tommy Iinuma at 161. In the girls competition, McKinley led the field, taking three classes.
