Guerilla Black makes
his return

It's been 10 years since producer David Cole died from spinal meningitis. Along with musical partner Robert Clivilles, Cole helped introduce house music to mainstream America in the early 1990's with the C+C Music Factory.

The production team enjoyed a fair amount of success in the early 1990s, releasing the hit single "Gonna Make You Sweat" and working with established stars like Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey and Aretha Franklin. But after Cole's death, it was his brother Darryl Hill who maintained contact with the music industry.

In honor of his fallen brother, Hill started Cinnamon Red Entertainment and began to bring some of his friends from the business to perform in Honolulu. Most recently, he presented an appearance by Tori Alamaze at The O Lounge last month.

On Saturday, Hill presents the return of Guerilla Black to Honolulu. The California rapper was in town last November pushing his debut album, "Guerilla City."

Doors open at 9 p.m. at The O Lounge, and a $20 cover charge will be in effect. And if you're partying late on Saturday night, keep your eyes peeled -- Hill is known to take his guests out on the town after they perform ...

IT'S ALL about girl power at the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center tomorrow. Dita Holifield (with Red Handed) and Sista Robi Kahakalau headline "Women Rock," the lastest installment of the center's Aloha Friday concert series.

Ladies, be sure to get there early -- 250 gift bags will be handed out, and a number of merchants will have prizes to give away. And with a $1 per hour parking rate that evening, you don't have to worry about shelling out big bucks to park in Waikiki.

The concert starts at 6 p.m. tomorrow, and will also feature performances by John Cruz and Jeff Rasmussen. Call 922-2299 ...

OUT ON the North Shore, Prickly Pear Promotions presents a "Freaky Tiki" party at Breakers Restaurant and Bar on Saturday.

The fun starts at 10 p.m. in Haleiwa, with Charlie Garrett providing the tunes. You'll also be able to take part in "Tackiest Tiki Outfit," "Musical Tiki" and limbo contests. Call 780-6635 ...

ALSO ON Saturday, Mass Appeal Entertainment presents "Jammin' Hawaiians 10" at the Waikiki Shell.

Tickets will range in price from $18.50 to $27 on the day of the show, with discounted presale tickets still available at all Ticketmaster outlets. Besides performances by B.E.T., Fiji, Keahiwai, Piilani Arias, Zacc Kekona and Tiana, there will be a special tribute to the late Israel Kamakawiwoole led by 3 Scoops of Aloha, the band that backed him up in the years before his death in 1997 ...
