Local girls showcase their
skills and attitude in the
Miz Kauai Tita Pageant
At the Radisson Kauai Beach Resort in Lihue on Friday night, seven Kauai wahine vied for the honor of being the top tita of the island. In front of 500 cheering fans, the women strung leis and crammed full bags of poi down their throats, all for a good cause. Proceeds from the competition benefit the Malie Scholarship and Awards to support Hawaiian programs, arts, culture and education on Kauai.

Chanel Flores, 22, of Anahola showed off her feminine brawn during the introduction of contestants to Da 2nd Annual Miz Kauai Tita Pageant. Flores won the pageant. Other contestants pictured are Came Trinque, Tavina Butac-Smith, Leina'ala Olivas and Mikala Schofner. What is a tita? A loyal best friend, a woman filled with aloha, a local girl born and raised in Hawaii and a female personification of a bulldog were among the descriptions given by contestants.
