THE SEARCH FOR SIGNS OF
HAWAIIAN LIFE
IN THE UNIVERSE

Hilo residents Tweetie and Thelma Calles spent a weekend during a visit with their son, Zach, in Virginia Beach, Va., in this beachfront rental cottage in Sandbridge, Va. The cottage is owned by James and Courtney Barton and is called the Hawaiian Palace because of the Bartons' love for the islands. "The inside has a total Hawaiian theme and is filled with items that the Bartons have brought back from their many visits to the islands," the Calleses said.

Hawaii native David Lee, who now lives in Colorado, sent in these photos of his visit to the Brazilian island of Florianopolis.
