Kevin Wessel: The Hawaii native died April 19 in Baghdad

Kevin Scott Kanani Wessel, 20, of Honolulu, a U.S. Army soldier killed when a car bomb exploded April 19 in Baghdad, Iraq, will be remembered in services 4 p.m. Saturday at Nuuanu Baptist Church, 2010 Nuuanu Ave. Call after 2 p.m.

Pfc. Wessel served in A Company, 3rd Battalion, 7th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division, based at Fort Stewart, Ga.

He was born in Honolulu. He attended Nuuanu Elementary School and graduated from Assets School.

He is survived by parents Paul and Lori, brothers Jason and Greg, grandparents Larrison and Dorothy Ozaki, and grandparent Elizabeth.
