RESTAURANT REPORT
Dining around the islands

Ice cream social

Chocolate ice cream, mixed with cookie dough and chocolate shavings, layered with yellow cake and wrapped in fudge ganache -- a treat to wish for if you've really got a sweet tooth.

Creator of the cake is a 12-year-old named Micah from Somerset, Mass., who as Cold Stone Creamery's junior tastemaster was given the chance to create this year's Make-A-Wish cake.

Slices of the cake will be served free from 5 to 8 p.m. tomorrow at the 1,000 Cold Stone locations nationwide -- in return for donations to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

The foundation makes wishes come true for seriously ill children. Micah's wish was to travel to Hawaii with her family and swim with dolphins -- it was granted last July.

In addition to tomorrow's World's Largest Ice Cream Cake Social, Cold Stone locations will continue to collect customers donations through April, and will donate a portion of all ice cream sales to the foundation.

Last year, the fund-raising drive collected more than $625,000, resulting in more than 120 wishes granted.

Sakai has become a frequent visitor to Hawaii as he makes plans to open a restaurant here.
