A&B venture to build center north of L.A.

Alexander & Baldwin Inc.'s real estate subsidiary will partner on a project to build a 101,700-square-foot, $25 million shopping center in Valencia, Calif., north of Los Angeles.

The site is next to Wal-Mart and Sam's Club stores that are under construction. The planned Centre Pointe Marketplace is a project with Intertex Properties and is A&B's fifth investment in the area.

The joint venture bought the land yesterday from a California developer. The purchase price was not disclosed. Construction is to start in the fourth quarter and take about a year.

She will be responsible for working with agencies and underwriters in evaluating risks and monitoring production. She previously served as a client advisor global broker at Marsh Risk and Insurance Services.
