‘Sunset Jam’ rolls
tomorrow at Makaha
Leeward residents won't have to go far to enjoy a quality concert tomorrow.
Gates open at 5:30 p.m. at the Makaha Resort for the "Makaha Sunset Jam," presented by Blue Entertainment. Island music favorites Ho'onu'a, B.E.T., Koa'uka and Inoa'ole are scheduled to perform. The last time I was at the Makaha Resort was in 2003, when the Makaha Sons hosted "Take a Walk in the Country." It's a great place, with lots of open space and plenty of parking.
Tickets for the "Makaha Sunset Jam" are $20 at the gate; call 695-9544 ...
BACK IN town, check out Indigo tomorrow for a special edition of "Get Fresh!"
A portion of the proceeds from the $10 cover ($5 with valid student ID) will be donated to KTUH, the college radio station at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. The party is also being billed as an Earth Day celebration, so some of the money will go to the Earth Day Network.
Of course, a lot of KTUH alumni are coming to support -- DJs Audy, Kavet the Catalyst, Sifu "Jive" Walker, MetaLX, and Rhombus will be there to jump on the decks along with current student DJs Nocturna, Ross Jackson, joan9, Bone and Cookiehead Jenkins. Swampa ZZ will also perform.
Doors open at 9:30 p.m. tomorrow; call 956-7261 ...
AND SINCE you'll be in the neighborhood already, be sure to visit thirtyninehotel if you make it to Indigo.
The Sisters in Sound present "Vertigo" starting at 9 p.m. tomorrow, with the focus on quality drum-n-bass by DJs Chronkite, Diode, Enemy and Ted. MetaLX is supposed to make the move over there, and DJ Toki will represent for her girls as well.
Visuals for this one will be courtesy of Maha10k; $8 gets you through the door. Call 599-2552 ...
HAVEN'T PAID a visit to "Bitchen Kitchen" at Sam Choy's on a Thursday yet? Make an appearance at the Kapahulu eatery tonight and you won't have to pay a cover charge -- it's promoter G-Dog's birthday, but you get the present.
Once you're inside, take that money you saved and buy the birthday boy a drink. While you're at it, why not buy DJs Delve and Zack Morse one, too? Doors open at 10 p.m. for this 23-and-over event ...
DON'T SLEEP on the monthly "Provide Soul" party happening at the Wave Waikiki on Sunday. Trace and Kimo James hold it down for Hawaii's hip-hop scene, and they'll be joined by Riccy Boy and Inoa'ole on stage this month. DJs Jrama, Sub-Zero, Sonik and Jahson the 45 Revolver will spin ...
