SAN DIEGO » Whatever the San Diego Padres lacked in an embarrassing weekend at Dodger Stadium, they suddenly found at home.
Brian Lawrence pitched eight strong innings, and Geoff Blum and Ramon Hernandez each drove in two runs to give the Padres a 5-2 win over the San Francisco Giants last night.
The Padres scored 12 runs in the two-game sweep after scoring just three in losing three straight games in Los Angeles last weekend.
Now, the Dodgers come to Petco Park for two games starting tonight.
"Sometimes anger is a gift, and maybe we got a little ticked off by getting pounded on by L.A.," Blum said. "This is a good ballclub. Part of the game is making adjustments.
"We're feeling pretty good right now and our pitchers are pitching well and we're getting key hits when we need them," Blum said. "Hopefully, this will be a good time for L.A. to come in and see what we have to offer."
Jerome Williams, who entered with a 1.87 ERA against the Padres in four career appearances, allowed four runs and six hits in four innings.
He was making his first start in 10 days -- his No. 5 spot in the rotation was skipped because of off days.
"They hit little flares here and there," he said. "I left a couple of pitches up and they hit them. I messed up and they got hits. Give them credit."
