The Bloomberg / Star-Bulletin Index is a price-weighted index designed to measure the performance of Hawaii-based companies. The index was developed with a base value of 100 as of December 31, 1999. A chart of the index which shows the weekly performance of its members is published weekly in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin.


Bad week all around

» Barnwell Industries' stock rose 3.9 percent for the week of April 11-15, closing at $56.75. A graphic on Page C1 Saturday incorrectly said the stock fell 0.2 percent.

Nearly every stock in the Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin fell this week, a period that saw Wall Street erase all of its post-election gains. The worst performer was Central Pacific Financial Corp., which dropped 5.5 percent in the week to close at $31.21.

Alexander & Baldwin Inc. fell 4.75 percent to close at $37.64. Maui Land & Pineapple Co. slipped 4 percent to close at $41.50.

The only equity issue that didn't fall was penny stock Mera Pharmaceuticals Inc., which was unchanged for the week at 1.3 cents.
