‘Foam’ on tiny ’tinis?
They still pack a punch

It's going to get LUSHous at Ala Moana soon. The fresh and handmade line of soaps and cosmetics will be available in a second Lush store next month. Mark Wolverton, the company's North American president, said in a press release, that the company's initial roll-out strategy was to open "a few shops in each major city in order to maintain the exclusivity of the brand." There are more than 300 Lush stores worldwide, with only 19 in the United States. Hawaii's first Lush beauty deli opened in the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center last August. ... About a month ago, chef Hiroshi Fukui of Hiroshi Eurasion Tapas in Restaurant Row started using "foams" in his dishes to replace some of the heavy sauces topping some of his delicious dishes. Now, he has created "foams" to top off the martinis that bartenders have created for the restaurant's "Wet & Wild Martini Wednesdays" starting tomorrow. On my list of new "tinis" to try are the Maunawili-tini and Peach Melba-tini. The Maunawili-tini consists of Apple puckers and peach schnapps with a cranberry foam, while the Peach Melba-tini has Vanilla vodka, peach schnapps, tuaca and raspberry foam. The martinis start at $3 ...

GET THOSE voices warmed up. Members of the Honolulu Boy Choir are joining the Hawaii Education of the ARTS to present Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat." Auditions will take place at 6 p.m. April 27 at Makiki Christian Church and 6 p.m. April 26 and 28 at Kailua Church of the Nazarene. Rehearsals begin on June 20 with the show running from July 21 to 23 at the Paliku Theatre. Dana Ledoux will be the drama director; Pamela DeBoard, musical director; and Megan DeBoard, choreographer. Got food? Once a month, Tiki's Grill & Bar partners Bill Tobin, Kelly McGill and Greg Montgomery donate platters of food to Waikiki Health Center's Youth Outreach Project. The youth program's drop-in center provides medical and social services for street kids ages 13 to 21, and, although center staffers are grateful for Tiki's donations, more meals are needed.
