"Blue Wolf, Fallow Doe"
By Nathaniel H.C. Kim
Xlibris, $21.24
|
|
Kaneohe author Kim's second volume in his historical trilogy about the Mongol empire has improved pacing and cogent storytelling, and is also a handsome example of what print-on-demand presses are capable of. Nice book.
"Hard Right!"
By George Francis Collins
Vantage, $10.95
|
|
Autobiographies, unless you're famous, notorious or in the midst of something amazing, are a tough sell. On the other hand, your relatives are fascinated. Collins' tour with the Merchant Marine during the Big One has high points, but mostly it's routine sailing.
"The Morning of the World"
By Dennis Jung
Xlibris, price not yet set
|
|
Seasoned traveler Dennis Jung's characters globetrot through various landscapes of decay and morality in this modest thriller, and a good portion is set in a recognizable Hawaii. Another nice POD package.
"A Guide to the Japanese Stage, From Traditional to Cutting Edge"
By Ronald Cavaye, Paul Griffith and Akihiko Senda
Kodansha, $19.95

Sometimes a book comes along that makes me wonder why it hasn't been done here earlier. That's the case with this joint British/Japanese venture that's both highly entertaining and instructive, and ought to be a textbook at the University.
