The Bloomberg / Star-Bulletin Index is a price-weighted index designed to measure the performance of Hawaii-based companies. The index was developed with a base value of 100 as of December 31, 1999. A chart of the index which shows the weekly performance of its members is published weekly in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin.
Penny stock leads
Hawaiian Airlines' parent was the second-best performer in the Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin this week as it rose 3.3 percent while awaiting the outcome of labor negotiations with the airline's pilots. Hawaiian Holdings Inc.'s stock closed yesterday at $6.62.
Penny stock Mera Pharmaceuticals Inc. had the best gain at 8.3 percent but is only trading at 1.3 cents.
Maui Land & Pineapple Co. had the third-best performance with a rise of 2.8 percent to $43.92.
Cyanotech Corp. brought up the rear as it fell 6.5 percent to $1.15.
