Carriers reach ticketing deal

Hawaiian Airlines has reached its first e-ticketing partnership with an international carrier, British Airways, ending the need for fliers to check in to connect to Hawaiian's flights.

Before, e-ticketed British Airways customers had to convert to a paper ticket to connect to Hawaiian. The local carrier said it plans to launch interline e-ticketing with Japan Airlines and other international carriers this year.

Outrigger may expand to Melbourne

Outrigger Hotels & Resorts is finalizing negotiations for its first property in Victoria, Australia, a mixed-use Melbourne project to be called Outrigger on Bourke.

The development, to be worth more than $191.5 million, will house 19 levels of hotel suites and 17 levels of private residences, Outrigger said.

The proposed site of the operation will be built through a joint venture with RIA Property Group and an urban development agency of the Victorian state government.

» Hawaii State Federal Credit Union announces the hiring and promotion of several employees. John R. Reese III has been named vice president of corporation development. He will manage all marketing and communications initiatives for the credit union. Previously Reese was senior vice president and director of marketing at City Bank for four years. Gayle Watanabe has been hired as teller services supervisor. She will oversee the daily sales activities and operation of the teller service section for the credit union's Pearlridge branch. Previously, she was operations supervisor at American Savings Bank. Michelle Woffinden has been hired as sales and service manager. She will be responsible for developing sales programs as well and managing service activities for the credit union. Previously, she was vice president of operations at Sound Credit Union in Washington state for nine years. Cindy Ching has been hired as member account service supervisor. She was a former fraud and loss prevention manager at City Bank, and will oversee the daily operations of the member account services department. Lani Abe has promoted to teller services supervisor. She will oversee the daily sales activities and operations of the teller service section for the main branch. Previously, she was a senior teller at the main branch. Liberta Lee has been named financial sales and service supervisor. She will oversee the sales and service personnel for the main branch as well as serve as financial counselor and membership officer. Previously, Lee was a teller supervisor at the main branch.

PROMOTIONS

» American Savings Bank has promoted Carmen Iao to assistant vice president. She is responsible for providing financial solutions to customers, offering services in financial planning, investments and insurance. Before joining the company she served as a Guardian Life Insurance Co. field representative.

» The Oceanic Institute has promoted Gary Karr to director of communications and education. He previously served as the education training and communications manager at the institute, where he has worked for 25 years.

» Tanaka of Tokyo Restaurants Ltd. has named Chester E. Kaneshiro as president and chief operating officer. He has been with the company for the past 28 years and has significantly impacted the corporation's growth and success. His new responsibilities will include leading the company's plan to expand and diversify its operations.

ON THE BOARD

» Hawaii National Bank has appointed Arthur C. Tokin to its board of directors. He recently retired as PricewaterhouseCoopers' Honolulu office managing partner. He is a past chairman of the state Board of Accountancy.
