Evening with Dave Eldredge
scheduled at Punahou May 7

An Evening with Dave Eldredge will be held Saturday May 7 at Punahou's Dole Hall, 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. The former Punahou athlete, coach and teacher suffered a brain hemorrhage in late December. He is still undergoing therapy but is getting stronger. Friends are invited to come and chat with Dave. The $25 entry will include heavy pupu. Beer and wine will be sold. When news broke early this week about Jerry Glanville joining June Jones' coaching staff, Star-Bulletin staffer Theo Jones said, "They should hire Buddy Ryan." That brought loud whoops from sports junkies Joe Edwards and Chuck Parker in the news room. That's one way to fill Aloha Stadium seats. People would pay to see the troika of unpredictable Jones, colorful Glanville and rough-and-tumble Ryan in action together ...

Speaking of Bulletin staffers, Cliff Coleman, the paper's former high-brow music critic in the 1950s and '60s, is still out there. Cliff, who turns 80 in July, has landed a small speaking part in an upcoming episode of ABC's "Lost." Cliff will appear in a flashback scene. He's had minor roles in "Hawaii Five-O" and "Magnum, P.I." Cliff continues to work on his music Web site, www.cliffsclassics.com, reviewing the latest classical albums. His son, Mark Coleman, is on the Star-Bulletin staff ...
