It was a mad scene in the courtyard at Tea at 1024, where owner Michele Henry staged a Madd Hatter's Easter Picnic Saturday. Renee Jojola wore a frothy pink gown accessorized with a 3-foot-wide hat, and the hostess wore a buoyant white number, courtesy Roy Venters. All the guests were draped with feather boas, and children's book illustrator Solomon Enos broke from his usual canvases to paint one of the dancers from Giinko Marischino before the company took the stage. ... And, staying in the world of fashion, designer Takeo has been invited to participate in a fashion show in Scottsdale, Ariz. He has created several new gowns inspired by Asian culture. ... Moving into the world of modeling, Sonya Balmores, last year's Miss Hawaii Teen USA, is on the cover of this month's Outside magazine. The photo was shot on Makena Beach on Maui. ... Olena Rubin may not be on a magazine cover this month but a portrait of the Miss Hawaii 2004 is gracing the wall of Compadres in Ward Centre. GM John Langan got Rubin to autograph a picture of herself when she attended a Spring Break party at the restaurant last Wednesday. ... And, don't forget to cheer on Miss Hawaii USA Jennifer Fairbank. Fairbank left for Baltimore last week to represent Hawaii in the Miss USA pageant, scheduled to air April 11 on KHNL/NBC.
